Halifax Metro Centre has become a first-class multi-entertainment sports and exhibition centre. It is the largest arena in Halifax capable of hosting a wide range of entertainment and sporting events. Located in a strategic downtown in the centre of the metropolitan business sector, the facility is also connected to the World Trade and Convention Centre.
Aim of monitoring:
The main aim of the Halifax Metro Centre project was to measure and monitor in quasi-real-time the deflection of the roof’s structure caused by extraordinary events such as heavy snowfalls, and events happening inside the arena (e.g. concerts) which may require heavy equipment to be hung on the roof’s trusses.
